All Things Auburn

It's that time of year again! It is the absolute best time to live on the plains, and one of the best parts is tailgating. Even FOXSports.com said so here!

Here we are with some of our dear small group friends, Beth and Leland. He is just a few weeks younger than Livi, so Beth and I enjoyed (and at times just plain endured :) our last trimesters together. And I know the kids will be great buddies.

This is a fun tailgating recipe that you can adapt your favorite team. Here's how mine turned out!

AUBURN CAKE BALLS

INGREDIENTS:
1 white cake mix (as well as ingredients for baking the cake)

1 can cream cheese frosting
1 package chocolate almond bark (plus shortening if needed)
Food coloring

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make cake batter according to instructions on the box and separate into two bowls.
2. Add food coloring to each.
3. Bake in separate pans according to instructions on the box.
4. Allow cakes to cool, then crumble each into separate bowls.
5. Mix half of the frosting into each crumbled cake until well blended.
6. Take a little bit of cake from one bowl and roll it into a ball; do the same for the other color. Then roll these two small balls together into a bigger ball. Place on wax paper.
7. Place balls in the refrigerator while you melt the almond bark in the microwave or a double boiler. *If the almost bark is too thick, you may use shortening (by the T) to thin it out.
8. Using a fork or a spoon, dip each cake ball into the chocolate, shake off the excess, and place on wax paper to dry. Enjoy!

Here we are showing our colors with some of our best friends, the Hindmans, at Grant's football birthday party.

And while we are on the subject, how cute is this Auburn initial door hanger?! Some friends of mine make these metal letters, and I just added the grapevine wreath and orange ribbon. Yes, they make Bama ones too.
